Ovations for the Cure of Ovarian Cancer held it's first annual Driving for a Cure golf tournament on Monday. Around eighty people participated representing various companies and organizations committed to finding a cure. It turned out to be a beautiful day!
This was my second visit to the
Weston Golf Club. Man do they have a great course!
The fabulous people of the
Natick Collection.
Possible Hole in One?
Wait for it...
This is Paul Flaherty, husband of Patti Franchi Flaherty, the founder of Ovations for the Cure.
Paul's company,
Flaherty Plumbing, was a sponsor of the event.
Meet
Pat Bradley. She is a hall of fame golf legend who was kind enough to donate her time to Ovations.
Hole 17 was "Beat the Pro". Participants were able to challenge Pat to a tee off!
This man was rather amused by her colorful golf bag. Who wouldn't be?
Pat also gave friendly advice to the players.
She even signed 80 autographed photos!
This guy LUCKED out! He "Beat the Pro"!
Claire from
Sabre Imagery and I on the 17th hole. She kept me company in the cart all afternoon!
Claire and the rest of the team from Sabre are responsible for all of the great events put on by Ovations for the Cure.
Scores are in!
The afternoon of golfing was followed by a dinner in the dining room.
There was a raffle too. Ovations always finagles the BEST raffle/silent auction gifts!
Guests got to pick up their Pat Bradley photos! A treasure to any fan of the game.
See what I meant about the raffles? This guy won a set of Nike clubs!
Paul Flaherty speaking to the crowd.
You can see me in the mirror!
Paul also accepted an award on his wife's behalf for her courageous efforts in fighting Ovarian Cancer.
The Brandeis Award was given by Bill Gaffney, the VP of
SBLI, a major sponsor of Driving for a Cure. Congratulations Patti!

You won't meet better people then Cara & Shaun... They are so kind, genuine and just plain FUN! The fact that their wedding was on July Fourth was very fitting, partly because they are members of the United States Army, and also because they like to PARTY!
When I walked into Cara's house I immediately noticed these dolls on the dining table. Soon after I took this picture, Cara began to play with them. It was as if she was 7 years old again, playing dress up and dreaming of one day finding her prince charming.
Meet Cara.
Meet Shaun.
Cara is actually VERY beautiful!
Cameron Diaz has NOTHING on you!
Check out her brides maid's salon! She converted a room in her house into a fully functional shoppe, perfect for Cara's big day!
Enza lending a hand or two.
The guys being tough with their cigars!

Tony Yu.
How gorgeous is she? I mean really.
Arriving at the church!
I was so happy to find out that Cara & Shaun were being married at my church -
Our Lady's. It is so grand and beautiful!
BEAMING!!
The rings.
Favorite!
That chilled champaign must have been pretty good... because it was a HOT July Fourth!
Meet Maive!
These two have their pose down.
This is such a happy photo - I had to include it!
We were on the grass taking photos when one of the guys started motioning towards the water. What could it be? A child struggling to swim? A flock of ducks? Oh... wait, it's just a car-boat, duh! HA!! We immediately chased it down for some photos.
Hanging out before the reception!
LOVE IT!
What's a July Fourth wedding without a flag shot?
Father-in-law love!
How patriotic!
Cara doing her thing.
She would probably kill me for posting this, but too bad, it's GREAT!
This guy could sing a MEAN New York, New York!
The guests were digging it too.
UNISON! LOVE IT!!
If one picture could capture Cara's feelings for Shaun, this is it.
Perhaps
Hotel Marlowe hired Bobby Trendy to decorate. Man we had some fun on this couch!
Why not bring the fun down to the hotel lobby?
And outside!
Don't forget, this was July Fourth. There were TONS of people walking outside. This pedestrian had NO idea what hit him...
Cara & Shaun, you guys are the GREATEST! I am so glad we have become great friends; I can't wait for you to visit Boston soon! Thank you so much for having Tony and I as your photographers - not a minute of it was work! BEST wishes to you both!

Perhaps you've been to the Back Bay Davio's? If so, you know how AMAZING the food is! Good news for you South Shore folk,
Davio's opened a new location in Patroiot Place! Last night they held their Grand Opening to a packed crowd of hungry fans.
Have you ever seen so many potted plants in your life? Besides at a garden store, that is.
Patriot Place in Foxborough is BRAND NEW. It is adjacent to Gillette Stadium and also has a mall, movie theatre and a hospital!
Bob Kraft and family, with the gang from Davio's.
Their expressions say it all. Davio's has perhaps the best pizza I've EVER had!
I love walking into a party and finding a martini sculpture.
Patriots Ben Watson and Davio's Steve DiFillippo.
The room was so packed, this was the only way they could get around.
The Kobe Burgers were GREAT! Thanks!
Enza & I after eating the entire restaurant clean.
The gang.
The people of Davio's Foxborough.
I noticed a couple of employees congregating around the grill so I asked for a group shot. Within minutes we had everyone!
Congratulations on your Grand Opening! - Click here for coverage by Gayle Fee.
Congratulations to my friend Giovanni, who this week turned two years of age! With everything that Giovanni has been through and accomplished so far in his young life, it is hard to believe that he is only turning two! Way to go little buddy, you're the man!
I went to New Hampshire on Saturday for the party.
"Calling all superheros!" Let's face it, the party would not have been complete without a Superman cake!
Cousin Krystle showing Giovanni his cake.
A little help lent by brothers, Alex and Adrian.
Giovanni opening his gifts.
Don't laugh... I got him a camera!
Ever wonder what an Elmo cupcake can do to a kid?
Outside for some fun!
Giovanni and Dad playing.
An unexpected birthday bonus: This past week, Save Giovanni's Friends located it's 10th donor match from one of our drives!
10 lives saved and only 2 years old :)
We at Save Giovanni's Friends are always looking for good people! Please let me know if you would like to help save a life.

Earlier this month at Fenway Park (on the hottest day of the summer),

A few weeks after I photographed Boston's
Old Town Trolley Tour at Fenway Park, they asked me back to capture their nighttime tour, called
Ghosts & Gravestones! They had never had any professional photos done and were so excited to finally have some!
This is their ticket booth which is located on Cross Street in Boston, and is connected to the Marriott Long Warf. One of the windows in this picture will soon feature my photos of the Ghosts & Gravestones cast! I can't wait to walk by and see the display!
Normally when you see the trolley around town it is filled with tourists... Not on this day!
We all rode together to the shoot location.
This is the cast of Ghosts & Gravestones.
They are the craziest bunch of people I've ever met! What a blast it was to ride with them... non stop joking and laughing; they are so very entertaining. It definitely takes a certain type of person to pull off their job.
By the way, this was the first time that all eleven of them had ever been together at the same time!
Meet the gravedigger!
Our location was the
Copp's Hill burial ground in the North End of Boston.
Our only costume change for the night... He only puts this on for special occasions.
My amazing assistant-for-the-day, Shyla, captured this photo of me working!
Shy, thank you so much for your positive attitude and photo mastery. Your cheerful laugh & friendly smile was an asset to the day.
Check out her GREAT photos from the day,
here on her blog!.
This is one of my favorites. I love his shirt, bloody stitches and silver strangle chain!
Finally, a friendly face in the graveyard! Or, is it a trick?
Evan also manages the Ghosts & Gravestones tour. I first met with him at his office a few months ago to discuss our plans for the shoot. Then I decided to go on an actual tour to see what it was like, and Evan ended up being my guide for the night. It was so funny to experience him in character after also meeting him in real life. He looked at me like he had never seen me before!
Kat's also a master in the creative department! She joined the cast a few years ago after designing their window display.
This was our Ghosts & Gravestones group shot.
This particular shot was a little more complicated then it looks. My battery lighting has two heads to it and only stretches so far. Lighting both the front and back of the group was tricky! Shyla was a real trooper though, holding the front soft box high above her head long enough for me to get the perfect shot, without complaining!
The entire group was really helpful as well, both in listening to my direction, staying still, and not knocking over any buckets of dry ice! Yes, the smoke you see is dry ice. I purchased 100 pounds of dry ice so that we could play with it at the graveyard. Unfortunately, because it was so temperamental, we only got to use it for this one shot. I still think it was worth it though :)
Special thanks to Joe at Cabot's for loaning me his ice cream coolers to transport the dry ice!
This picture is perhaps one of my favorites of all time! I LOVE their matching faces!
The guys of Ghosts & Gravestones!
This was going to be a girls shot, but one of the guys creeped in the background, and I think it's PERFECT as is!
As we were leaving the graveyard Shyla and I noticed this interesting cluster of headstones. I love this one, too!
Lastly, the gang was hoping to get a picture of them all together, spread apart in the graveyard. What better than a panoramic!
I REALLY commend these guys for pulling it off... Yes, I took the picture (or, pictures, as this is the culmination of about 15 individual shots), but it would not have worked if everyone did not stand completely still for about 5 minutes! That's dedication.
Click HERE to see it in detail.
My favorite part of this shoot is that these photos weren't faked for PR - this is the true spirit of the
Ghosts & Gravestones cast!
If you are ever looking for something fun to do before dinner, consider taking their tour. Not only is everything you'll learn about Boston's history very interesting, but you also receive a theatrical performance second to none. Don't forget to tell them I sent you!
